I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia and developed a passion for writing early in life. It all started with one small poem I wrote when I was nine about late blooming daffodils which was published in my school district’s collection of writing that year. I’ve had several other poems published over the years, some of which you can find and read under my “Published Work” tab.
The highlight of my writing career is having one of my short stories published in a “Chicken Soup for the Soul” spin-off series called “Nobody’s Perfect”. My story entitled “Beautiful All Along” tells the story of a girl who learns how to grow into her adult body and begins to accept herself.
After a bad case of writer’s block and deep case of soul-searching, I took a couple years off writing to discover myself. What I learned is that you can run from your destiny for a while, but it eventually catches up. In 2012, I took a leap of faith and enrolled myself in a Freelance Writing course. The sparks flew. I found my passion again and never want to lose it.
My niche in writing seems to be romance novels. I am a sucker at heart for characters who are in love and have to survive a gauntlet of adversity being thrown at them. I aim to write characters that people can relate to, putting them in real situations with real emotions. Life is all about figuring out who we are as people and how to relate that to one another. I still find time now and again to write some poetry and the odd short story. Honestly right now my focus remains on my blog which talks about my writing life co-existing with my real life and how to keep my self-doubting, procrastination riddled, fear crippled, neurotic writer-self at bay.
I live inside my head so much sometimes that it feels nice to let the words spill on to the page.
